Certified Nursing Assistants or Nursing Assistants

Job Description

Under close supervision, the Nursing Assistant performs the following duties after being trained and oriented.  The Certified Nursing Assistant performs the following duties under the general supervision of the Senior Certified Nursing Assistant and the nurse in charge:  Receives daily assignments and reviews each resident’s Nursing Care Plan. Performs basic nursing services to assist the residents to regain, attain, or maintain an optimal level of functioning including feeding, bathing, dressing and grooming, toileting, positioning, transferring and ambulating, communicating and socializing.  Performs all duties in accordance with departmental standards, Hale Makua policies and procedures and governmental rules and regulations.  Reports pertinent information in a timely manner to the charge nurse.  Completes all charting and record keeping requirements. 

The Nursing Assistant and Certified Nursing Assistant maintains confidentiality of resident information.  Assures that the resident’s physical environment is maintained in a clean, orderly, safe and comfortable manner and that supplies are cleaned and properly stored at all times.  Makes and cleans beds and performs other housekeeping duties that relate to resident care.  Attends and participates in staff meetings, in-service educational programs, on-the-job training as directed/scheduled.  Performs restorative and rehabilitative procedures to maximize the potential abilities of each resident.  

Full-time and Part-time (-20 hrs/wk) Certified Nursing Assistant and Nursing Assistant positions available in the Kahului and Wailuku Campuses.

Job Requirements

CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT - Must have a valid Hawaii Nurse Aide certificate from Prometric Hawaii and recent state approved Nurse Aide Training certificate required.  Must obtain CPR and first aide card.  Previous experience in healthcare or providing personal care in a home setting preferred.

NURSING ASSISTANT - Must have completed a recent state approved Nurse Aide Training Program and a copy of the certificate is required.  Must obtain Hawaii state certification as a Nursing Assistant from Prometric Hawaii within four (4) months from the date of hire.  Must obtain CPR and first aide card.

Must have sincere desire to work with the elderly and those with limited capacity for self care.  Must be able to work a flexible schedule including working weekends and holidays and variable shifts.

Compensation

 

$15.97/hr. -  CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT

$14.22/hr. -  NURSING ASSISTANT [Maximum four (4) months]
