Teresa Lopes, Kahului Activities Director, Retires after 47 Years of Service

Teresa

Earlier this month we said a hui hou to our beloved Kahului Activities Director, Teresa Lopes, who dedicated 47 years to Hale Makua. Over the years, she has done amazing things for our residents to make their wishes come true.

Teresa was never one to let an obstacle get in the way of making a difference in the lives of her residents. Some of the outstanding things she has done over the years includes taking disabled residents to the pool to swim, taking residents up to Haleakala when there was snow, taking them on inter-island day trips (back when prices were cheap), helping to get a rickshaw bike to Maui so residents could go on bike rides, and when the pandemic hit and our doors closed, she helped arrange the most amazing and heartwarming family drive through parade. The list goes on and on.

Happy retirement, Teresa! Mahalo for all that you have done for our kūpuna and for the hundreds of Hale Makua staff that you have inspired over the years. Your legacy will forever live on. To watch a video of Teresa's farewell video, visit our Instagram or Facebook pages,
