Congratulations to Board Director, Beth Ivey, for being recognized by the Hawaii Community Foundation with the inaugural 2013 Outstanding Professional Advisor in Philanthropy Award. We’re very grateful to Beth for naming us as the beneficiary of the $2,000 award that accompanied this recognition.

The idea that “Nonprofit organizations—from canoe clubs to soup kitchens to the colleges we attend—all exist because someone said, ‘I want to make a difference.’ So helping someone with a planned gift is really their gift to the island—their gift to everybody—that lasts forever and ever”, drives Beth to help people navigate the process of making a planned gift such as gift in a bequest or estate through a provision in a will.

The Hawaii Community Foundation works closely with professional advisors—including estate planning attorneys, accountants and financial consultants—to help their clients fulfill their philanthropic goals. Beth received the Outstanding Professional Advisor in Philanthropy Award for her exemplary practice of incorporating philanthropy into her everyday work.

If you’re interested in learning more about how to leave a planned gift to Hale Makua, or would like sample bequest language, please contact our Director of Development, Denise Thayer, at (808)871-9218 or deniset@halemakua.org.
