On July 12, 1999, Rogelio (Roger) Quibuyen started as CNA in Hale Makua Wailuku. After a year he became the Schedule Coordinator. In 2003, he obtained his LPN license and began working as LPN at Hale Makua Kahului. Currently, he is working as LPN in Adult Day Health by Hale Makua.

Manny Agcolicol, Director of Adult Day Health and Restorative Nursing Program, shares, "Roger is very compassionate. His team members described him as generous, frank, straight forward and helpful. He is known among the Day Health participants as Mr. Entertainer because of his golden voice singing Karaoke during the happy hour. Roger is dedicated and loyal, and it is of great pride to work along side Roger. We are truly fortunate to have him in our team. Congratulations Roger on your 20th year of service!"

Roger says there are many things that attribute to his longevity at Hale Makua. “I really enjoy working with the elderly. I find great satisfaction in caring for them. They have become my family, each and every one of them. My co-workers are great, we all work really well together and we have fun.” Roger shares that he was afforded the opportunity to go to school and continue his education to become an LPN because of a scholarship that he received from Hale Makua. “When I wanted to go back to school to get my LPN, I applied for a scholarship through the Development Office and was award money to help me go to school. I am so grateful for that, for the opportunity.”

Roger is referring to the Walter and Cathy Scott Scholarship Fund, which was established in 1996 with the purpose of providing scholarships to non-professional and non-administrative staff at Hale Makua for tuition, books or registration for additional education in areas of healthcare.

Congratulations to Roger, on twenty years of service to our kupuna, we are incredibly proud and thankful to have you as a part of our ohana!
