The theme of Social Work Month 2016 is “Forging Solutions out of Challenges”. Social workers contribute at all levels of society, working with individuals, families, and other community organizations to foster positive relationships and to assist with accessing of services for those in need. Social workers are the largest group of mental health care providers in the United States.
At Hale Makua, our Social Services team works with our residents and their families to improve their quality of life and their ability to live independently as long as possible. Our team provides psychosocial support to our residents, helping them to cope with chronic, acute or terminal illnesses. We also advise caregivers and residents, helping them to plan for their needs when there is a plan for discharge home.
While residing at Hale Makua, we want to ensure our residents are aware of and able to exercise their rights. Mahalo to our Social Services staff for doing an excellent job of "forging solutions out of challenges" every day.
Our Social Services staff members, in the photo above, are (from l to r): Natalie Turnbull, Donna Tabion, Donna Martin, Kelley McGinnis, Julie Hoy, and Gail Raikes, LSW.
