Congratulations to our CFO, Joyce Tamori, for being selected as a member of Pacific Business News’ 2016 class of 40 Under 40, which recognizes 40 of Hawaii’s emerging leaders under the age of 40 annually. For over a decade, Joyce has led our organization with dedication and diligence, and is very much deserving of this recognition. An awards ceremony was held on June 9, 2016 at the Hawaii Convention Center. Joyce was joined by family and friends as she received this great honor, as seen in the photo above (from left to right: Tony Krieg, HMHS CEO; Maile Au, Director of Alumni Relations, UH-Manoa Shidler College of Business; Joyce Tamori, HMHS CFO; Jeffrey Tice; Terri Fujii,CW Associates; and Unyong Nakata, Sr. Director of Development, UH-Manoa Shidler College of Business).
Michael Munekiyo, President of Munekiyo Hiraga, former Board Chair for Hale Makua Health Services and current Wailuku Hongwanji Board Chair shares, “I have seen Joyce display a passion to ‘make it happen’ no matter the challenges or obstacles to be addressed. This mindset is refreshing and indeed inspiring, as it reflects her engagement and commitment to tasks and outcomes which ultimately benefits the broader community.”
Joyce joined Hale Makua Health Services in 2003 as the Director of Financial Services, and was promoted to CFO in 2010. As CFO, she wears many hats in addition to being responsible for measuring and reporting back to the Board of Directors the financial performance of our organization with over $33 million in revenue, operating five healthcare programs (including two nursing homes that run 24-hours a day, 365 days a year) on two campuses, and employing nearly 450 individuals.
Her work as CFO is a full time job, but Joyce always finds time to give back to the community in which she lives by volunteering her time at other nonprofits. She currently serves and shares her financial expertise on the Board of Directors at Imua Family Services and the Wailuku Hongwanji Mission.
