Hale Makua residents, like Melissa Miyamoto pictured left with care partner Edna Capa, participated in the 6th annual Blossoms for the Brave event on May 25th. They helped string lei for the annual Memorial Day ceremony held at the Veterans Cemetery in Makawao. One lei is placed on every grave  to honor the lives of our fallen heroes. In total, over 2,900 lei were made.

The event is sponsored each year by Kaunoa Senior Services and is open to the public. Flowers and ti leaf are all donated. Hale Makua residents have been participating since the inaugural year and look forward to lei making, talking with old friends, listening to live music, and enjoying the beautiful surroundings.
