Thank you Hilton and Maria Unemori who have made available $1,500 in continuing education scholarships for our nursing staff through a donor advised fund of the Hawaii Community Foundation.
These funds will be used to provide scholarships to staff at Hale Makua Health Services who are seeking additional education, certification or licensure in a nursing career with priority given to non-licensed and/or non-managerial staff. Funds of up to $500 per recipient can be used to cover costs for tuition or courses, books, or registration fees.
The support from this scholarship allows our staff to pursue their educational goals. Many of them have difficulties balancing work, family and school. Additionally, the decrease in financial aid assistance while the cost of education rises makes continuing education out of reach for most. This Scholarship gives our employees a much needed opportunity to continue or complete their education.
As an employer, having highly skilled employees makes the delivery of care to our residents more efficient. We have as much to benefit as does the employee. Our residents are also happier as they receive proper care from better trained care givers.
