Hale Makua Kahului held an outdoor Barrio Fiesta, which has been a long time tradition at Hale Makua for over a decade. For many of the residents, the highlight of the event was a special visit from Miss Rodeo Hawaii 2021, Gabrielle Berce and her horse, Skip. Gabrielle is a Speech-Language Pathologist at Hale Makua. Other performances included dancing and singing by the Environmental Services staff, Maintenance staff, and Activities staff. There was even a Summer 2021 Olympics skit where contestants dressed up in muscle suits and showed off their weight lifting skills, which brought in a ton of laughter.

“It was so nice to see the residents having such a good time at the Barrio,” says Kahului Activities Director, Teresa Lopes. “All the hard work our staff does to come together, plan, and prepare is all worth it just to see the smiles on our resident’s faces, especially during these times. We really could not have pulled off this event without the help of our talented staff.”
