This week is Volunteer Appreciation Week, and we'd like to take a moment to thank all of our volunteer who dedicate their time to our organization and the individuals we serve. Last year, 146 volunteers provided over 8,000 hours of service. We are truly grateful to all of our volunteers who pour their hearts into the time and services they provide.
Ron Rawson, pictured above, has been volunteering in Admissions for five years. Ron frequently visited his father, a resident of Hale Makua Kahului, where they enjoyed helping out by feeding the koi in the fish pond near our Admissions Office. Since the fish food is kept in the Admissions Office, Ron got to know the Admissions staff well. He began helping out in the Office by doing clerical work, and continues to do so even though his father is no longer a Hale Makua resident.
We are fortunate to have long-time volunteers like Ron, whose help makes our 69-year legacy of providing care for Maui's kupuna possible. Volunteers are valuable in a variety of areas including serving meals, transporting residents to and from the gym, gardening, doing crafts and visiting with residents, fundraising events, and provide clerical support in our Admissions, Business, Development, Human Resources and Social Services offices.
We are continuously looking for volunteers at both of our facilities for a number of different positions. If you’re interested in learning more about our volunteer opportunities and would like more information, please contact our Development & Volunteer Coordinator, Danielle Sanchez by calling 808-871-9283 or emailing danielles@halemakua.org.
