Hale Makua’s two long term care campuses have successfully applied to remain on the Eden Alternative Registry for the second time. The two homes were originally listed on the Registry in 2009 and successfully reapplied in 2011 and 2013. Our 2013 application was submitted in August and included support letters from care partners, family members, residents and the Board of Directors.
Being listed on the Eden Alternative Registry means that Hale Makua Health Services has made “a public commitment to strive for the Principles & Practices of the Eden Alternative,” improving quality of life for our residents by moving towards an Elder-centered community.
Highlights of “Eden Alternative in Action” from the application include buffet-style dining in Wailuku, field trips that bring residents out into the community, and lots of stories about human and animal companions that the residents have found here.
In the photo above, Wailuku Administrator Connie Miller, Board Chair Michael Munekiyo, and CEO Tony Krieg pose with the Certificate of Recognition from the national Eden Alternative organization.
